Let me tell you a bit about this song:

It's about a subject that's been part of my life for a long time. It's about what happens when you stop listening to yourself and your body. It's about overworking yourself until you start crumbling and falling apart and you slowly start to feel more and more disconnected from your soul and your intuition. It's about being burnt out, and I don't use that word lightly. It's about not being able to enjoy anything anymore, 'cos your mental and physical exhaustion won't allow you to feel anything apart from dread. It's about doing the things you love but not loving them anymore. It's about dreading the things that used to fulfill you, the things that used to give you a reason for being alive. It's about feeling lonely, very lonely, while you continue to carry the weight that's crushing your bones. But actually it's about what happens afterwards, when your body forces you to find balance again. When you are forced to remember what's necessary and what isn't. It's about finding REST and reconnecting with your soul and with your path. And it's about remembering that you are not alone.

My body was broken
Walking the stairs
My words were all spoken
Couldn't hear what came next
What came next
My brother went missing
Now he has returned
And mother is singing
The songs in her head
The songs in her head
I walked beside her
Now she has come home
Her legs were tired
Now they can rest
Now they can rest

Alicia Edelweiss

Austro-British singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, artist and yarn-spinner, whose imaginative forays into dark folk tales, humour-laden
autobiographical sketches and sideways observations on life are suffused with both a sense of child-like wonder and an arch contemporary savvy, couched in subtly insistent melodic ear-worms. She began her musical career as a teenage street musician.
